Hello, today just for something different, I’m sharing 100 ridiculous facts about me, your resume writer, Nicole. I figure I know a lot about my clients by the time I have finished writing their resume so it’s only fair!
My first ever job was at Brumby’s Bakery back in high school.
I am a mother to two children, Indiana and Nebraska.
My worst job was working in a Balloon Stall at a Show in the 90’s.
I graduated from Harristown State High School.
I have a Bachelors degree in Criminology from Griffith University.
I have a rescue bitza called Coco.
I had Coco’s DNA tested to determine what kind of dog she was, and she returned as 23 different breeds!
My DNA was tested on Ancestery.com and it came back as Scottish and Irish.
My first Australian Ancestor was a convict on the first fleet.
I spend most of my holidays on the Gilli Islands, small islands in Indonesia with no cars or motorbikes (just horses or push bikes for transport).
I love Darwin and plan to retire there.
I collect teapots.
I play DND every second Sunday just for fun.
I play indoor netball religiously (but terrible at it).
My favourite place in Australia is Thargomindah.
My favourite place overseas is New Orleans, USA.
If I had one magic power – it would be dragons.
I love Game of Thrones.
I love Monopoly (but very competitive).
I secretly love old Western movies, especially Streets of Laredo.
My TV crush is Thomurd Giantsbane from Game of Thrones (the big red-headed wilding dude).
When I was younger, I wanted to be a Radio Announcer until I did year 10 work experience and realised I didn’t have the voice for it!
My favourite author is Laurell K Hamilton.
My first concert was Dolly Parton.
The artist I have seen live the most is Xavier Rudd.
My favourite concert location is The Sandstone Point Hotel
I have lived on three different islands – Macleay, Russell and Coochiemudlo.
I can’t cook.
My best subject at school was English.
I once got an E- on my report card for Home Economics (Cooking) – I put vinegar instead of vanilla in the junket. Opps!
I attended St Saviours High School for Year 8.
I attended Kingsthorpe Primary School.
My favourite teacher was Mrs Allen in year 5.
My favourite thing to do as a kid was play ‘Button Olympics.’
I had a crush on Edward from Twilight.
When I was a teenager, I was allowed to stay up late one night per week to watch ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’.
My first celebrity crush as a teenager was Kurt Cobain.
The first CD I ever brought was Nirvana.
The second CD I ever brought was Oasis.
I once worked full time at a Pharmacy while also doing year 11 in high school – at one point working 16 hour shifts every Sunday to make up the hours.
My first ever pet was a dog called Nippy that my dad gave me when I was five.
I’ve had 11 pet pigs that I bottle fed from birth. All were called Piggy Wiggy.
I’ve also had 3 pet goats called Snuggle Up, Cuddle Pie and Snowy.
And a pet Galah called Toby.
And two horses (Mystery and Frisco).
And one cow, called Jack.
Despite the wide array of farm animals I’ve had as pets, I’ve never actually lived on a farm (my dad had a soft heart and brought home anything needing rescuing).
I once read so many books as part of a school competition, that they changed the rules just for me because I was sending them broke in pizza vouchers.
When I was little, I wanted to be a primary school teacher.
My earliest memory was climbing the macadamia tree in our backyard.
I first worked in Employment Services in the early 2000s for Darwin Skills Development Scheme, where I helped some of Darwin’s most disadvantaged people find employment.
After leaving DSDS, I went on to work for some of the biggest names in Employment Services including Max and ITEC.
In 2012, after the birth of my first child, I started working as an Employment Consultant for private clients.
My last holiday was four days in a yurt in a rainforest in NSW.
I’m obsessed with Tiny Houses.
I’m also obsessed with travel.
The last song I listened to was ‘Tipsy’.
The last book I read was ‘Lady of the River’.
The last doco I watched was a documentary on Tsunamis.
The last tv series I watched was ‘Sweet Tooth’.
The last movie I watched was ‘Gone Girl’.
I’m a huge Star Wars geek.
The weirdest job I had as a teenager was a Telemarketer for a Pizza Company.
I spent a lot of my early 20’s living in Darwin.
I spent some of my late 20’s living in Cairns.
One of the most impressive things I have ever seen was the Chillagoe Caves.
I’m a big fan of the Conflict Islands (PNG).
I’m basically a big fan of islands in general.
I’m probably a bit fan of islands because I’m a bit of an introvert.
I took my mother on a trip to Cambodia and the culture shock left her quite traumatised.
I took a Myers Brigg test and came back as an INTJ.
I believe that the NSW North Coast is underrated (it’s amazing).
Yes, I think aliens exist.
No, I have never seen an alien.
I prefer Superman to Batman.
I prefer Wonder Woman to them all.
The last movie I saw at the cinema was ‘Twisters’.
I garden a little but most of my plants don’t live very long.
I spend more money than I should on tea.
I have a gym membership, but I only use the sauna.
Speaking of, I love the sauna and spend a lot of my spare time there!
I currently have an office in a co-working centre (WOTSO).
I used to have an office in a non-for-profit coworking centre called Canvas.
I used to work for a non-profit that helped disadvantaged job seekers find work and LOVED it.
If I won the lotto, I’d start my own tiny house eco village.
I have a lemon and a mango tree in my backyard.
I still have many of the same friends that I had as a teenager.
I named my daughter Indiana after Indiana Jones (I just LOVED him).
I named my son after a character in a Lady Ga Ga song that was playing on route to the hospital.
My favourite fruit is oranges.
My favourite vegetable is potato.
I’m more into savory food, than sweet.
But I also LOVE chocolate.
If I had to choose one chocolate, it would be a Snickers Bar.
My first resume client when I went into business was an ADF member transitioning back into civilian life.
I once tried to take up ballroom dancing (but have two left feet).
Ditto for Rockabilly dancing.
My guilty pleasure is cent sales.
The first thing I ever won was a bag of lollies at a cent sale (I was 8).
