Examples of How to Address Vision, Results and Accountability Criteria

Looking for examples of how to address vision, results and accountability criteria for your next government applications? I've got you covered with this example.

Vision Selection Criteria Example

In my previous project management role, I encountered a challenging situation that required me to demonstrate several key competencies. I faced a situation where an employee had engaged in inappropriate use of the work phone, forwarding sexually explicit content, which was a clear violation of our organisation's ethical guidelines. This situation required immediate attention to maintain our workplace's integrity and ensure other employees' well-being. I addressed this issue promptly and professionally while adhering to our organisation's policies and values. I took the following actions:

Ø  Established Clear Work Priorities: I recognised the urgency of the matter and immediately established clear work priorities. This step was crucial to ensure that the issue received the attention it deserved.

Ø  Initiated a Thorough Investigation: I began by conducting a comprehensive investigation to gather all relevant information and evidence related to the incident. This step was essential in determining the appropriate course of action, ensuring that all parties involved were treated fairly and justly.

Ø  Maintained Confidentiality and Transparency: Throughout the process, I was keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality. I ensured that the investigation and subsequent actions were conducted discreetly to respect the privacy of the individuals involved, all while maintaining transparency within the boundaries of our organisational policies.

Ø  Consulted with HR: After gathering all necessary information, I consulted with our Human Resources department to review the case. Together, we evaluated the situation, considered the evidence, and discussed the best course of action.

Ø  Made the Difficult Decision: After careful deliberation and in alignment with our organisation's policies, I made the difficult but necessary decision to terminate the staff member's employment.

The result of this situation demonstrated my ability to lead strategically by promptly addressing a critical issue, stimulate innovation by finding a fair and just solution, lead change in a complex environment by managing the unexpected event effectively, and make insightful decisions that were both ethical and in line with our organisation's broader context.

Results Selection Criteria Example:

At Cold Ice, I encountered a challenging debt collection situation that required careful communication and negotiation skills. One of our clients, had an outstanding invoice for a substantial project, and it had been overdue for several months. I initiated contact with the client to discuss the matter openly and understand the reasons behind the payment delay. In our initial conversation, I maintained an empathetic and non-confrontational tone, acknowledging that financial difficulties can arise unexpectedly. The client explained that they had faced cash flow issues due to delayed payments from their own clients.

They were unable to make the full payment for our services at that moment. It was essential for me to actively listen to their concerns and not only focus on debt recovery but also on supporting them through the challenges they were facing. After a thorough discussion, we jointly arrived at a solution. We agreed on a revised payment plan that allowed the client to pay the outstanding balance over the next four months, aligning with their expected cash inflow from their clients. This approach ensured that we would eventually receive the full payment for our services while alleviating the immediate financial burden on the client.

Throughout the process, I emphasised our commitment to maintaining a strong working relationship and encouraged the client to reach out if any unforeseen changes occurred or if they had concerns about the payment plan. It was crucial to convey our willingness to cooperate and adapt to their circumstances. By actively listening, empathising, and offering a flexible solution, I successfully resolved the debt collection issue while maintaining a positive and open line of communication with the client.

Accountability Selection Criteria Example:

In leading the cross-functional project team, I recognised the importance of fostering a healthy and inclusive workplace. This involved promoting the physical and emotional well-being of team members and ensuring an environment where everyone felt valued and included. My task was to create an environment that prioritised health, safety, and well-being while promoting inclusivity and diversity within the team.

I proactively addressed health and safety concerns by conducting regular safety briefings and risk assessments for the project. This ensured that all team members were aware of potential hazards and safety protocols. I encouraged open communication and ensured that team members felt comfortable reporting any issues related to their well-being or concerns about inclusivity. We established a confidential channel for sharing such concerns and took prompt action to address them. In terms of inclusivity, I emphasised the value of diverse perspectives within the team.

I promoted an environment where everyone's ideas and contributions were respected and considered. I also implemented diversity training to raise awareness and sensitivity among team members. The proactive approach to health and safety led to a decrease in workplace accidents and incidents during the project. Team members felt safer and more supported. The culture of continuous improvement led to increased efficiency and effectiveness in project execution. Team members were empowered to learn from their experiences and apply those lessons to future tasks. The sound governance practices contributed to the project's success by reducing the occurrence of unexpected issues and ensuring that all team members and stakeholders were well-informed and aligned with project goals.
